Oral history interview with Ben H. and Ferne A. Renken, 1978 July 6.

During the interview the Renkens discuss how the century farm north of Manson, Iowa was originally acquired (homesteading) and transferred; family members; the physical labor of farming and its health consequences; grain and dairy cooperatives; railroad transportation of crops and livestock; the Lizard Township school and churches; and Ferne's experiences as a school teacher in Lizard Township. This collection also includes a bicentennial survey given to Ben Renken by Steven Schick and Mary Aldridge. This survey includes questions related to the farm's history, transportation, the farm's description, farm life, rural education, crops and livestock, farm equipment, weather, illnesses, etc.
